History

Rarely do communities have such a long history of theatre as Barren County Kentucky and the town of Glasgow. Back in 1951 a collection of theatre loving individuals founded a little arts organization called The Glasgow Little Theatre. They produced seven plays from 1951 through 1953 and audiences loved them. Years later, in 1981, a few dedicated local arts lovers, who remembered Glasgow Little Theatre, got together and founded The Far Off Broadway Players. In the 90’s there were some years there were no plays produced but in 2006 a new group of dedicated individuals gathered to create the new Far Off Broadway Players. Since the inception of Community theatre in 1951, Glasgow has seen well over 50 theatrical shows produced and we’re still going strong.
